Ice Box Pickles

Slice thin 1 gallon cucumbers in glass jar with 3 large onions, sliced.
Syrup:
6 cups sugar
4 cups vinegar
1 1/2 tsp dry mustard
1/2 cup pickling salt (not iodized)
1 1/2 tsp celery salt
1 1/2 tsp turmeric
2 tsp mustard seeds
Bring syrup to a boil then cool to very cold. Pour over cucumbers. Use in 5 days.
